Casting is underway

Good morning everyone, we wanted to share with you the latest updates and to let you know what else is going on with us at the moment.

1. How is the Kickstarter going?

The simple answer is, your orders will be leaving in the next couple of weeks. The rather large package, previously held captive by customs since early December, was finally released last week. The only model therefore that won't be ready to ship in just under 2 weeks is the throwbot replacement. As we mentioned in our last update the throwbot did not survive the journey; Anton has created a replacement and it is winging its way to us.

Get ready boys and girls for some fairly hefty lead piles to drop on your doorsteps. We will aim to ship the international orders just before the domestic so that you all hopefully receive your mounds of goodies at the same time. :)

For those of you with throwbots in your orders, these will follow in a separate package when cast, if you would prefer though to receive all of your bits in one package, let us know and we can hold shipping until the replacement arrives and is cast up.

2. Pre-orders and new releases

Some of you will have no doubt noticed that our site has had a lick of paint over the last couple of weeks. The site should be fully operational with pre-orders for KS models (shipping after the backers orders) from tomorrow evening UK time.

We have also around 40 new models plus some multi-scale releases that will be hitting the shelves over the next few months so keep your eyes peeled. 

As you have been so patient it is only fair we give you a sneaky peak of one of the packs of Anthalonican Independence Front (AIF) fighters that will be coming out soon!

3. The Ukrainian fundraiser

There have been many devastating developments on the global stage over the last week. The invasion of the Ukraine by Russian forces is upsetting and has already led to a number of our Ukranian KS patrons asking us to keep their packages safe until they return from fighting.

We will not be creating any models that profit from the war and we will not be producing any miniature ranges that glorify what looks set to be a bloody attempt to break the civilian population of a peaceful, democratic country; i personally have friends and former colleagues; not to mention our customers; fellow gamers and games studios in the Ukraine, this war is personal for us all as it defines what will happen next globally.

The Ukranian government has called out for financial assistance, to pay principally for weapons and medical aid; Anthalonica and the Flytrap factory will therefore be releasing a charity figure to raise money for Ukrainian supplies. 

I am fronting the cost for the sculpting, the shipping of the master to the uk and the casting of as many figures as we sell as well as our advertising on social media for the venture; none of my costs will be reclaimed from the sale, therefore (less the paypal charges) 100% of the money raised from the sales will go straight in the pot.

The model will be announced later today as there is an ongoing vote in our Discord group about the subject of the model. It will only be available to order until the figure arrives in the UK, after the orders are then cast and shipped the mold will be destroyed therefore this is going to be a very limited, limited edition figure. 

If you wish to donate more than £5 (the figure sale price), you can either donate any additional money directly to the Ukraine (charity links below) or, we have set up and will be releasing details of a Wise bank account that you can send money to be sent alongside our model revenue donations. 

We have previously raised several hundred pounds for the thin blue line charities, lets's see how much we can muster for the men women, and children of the Ukraine currently under the cosh of war.

The Competition

As some of you will no doubt be aware our judges pannel included two serving UKSF members, one of whom had their deployment extended until last week. But.. all are back, our scoring has been compared and the winners are as follows.

The whole team that supports Anthalonica Wargaming in the background would like to thank all of you who entered our wee competition, the quality and evident passions shown by all who entered were inspirations.

The KS

We are very close now to the end; all of the models have been sculpted (though the throw bots are being rebuilt after some destruction in transit).

Tomorrow I should be getting back from our casters, the Israeli and RM commandos as well as many other metal casts; we are though waiting for a fairly large package containing the conversion figures that is yet to be released by Customs, after being held here in the UK for 3 weeks so far!

As soon as the second parcel arrives, we will cast the remaining figures and start sending out parcels. For those of you who entered the competition, your 'Captain General figures' will ship out with the body of your orders. :)

What we would propose, if we are not able to get the replacements here and cast in time, is that we will ship everyone's packages (minus the drones, for those who ordered the drone team). We will then ship the errant drones as soon as they are cast up.

The exciting challenge of packaging up the orders has already become with the models that are already cast up, so... not long now. :)

1. Kickstarter models update

For those of you not eagerly following our Discord for the weekly previews here are some of the latest works of art from the Flytrap Studios.

Some of you will know already that there have been a few casualties of the KS so far, predominately down to ham-fisted customs inspections damaging greens which have led to casting failures. 

One is discussed in more depth below in section 5, but in the meantime, in the process of fixing one of the destroyed figures, Anton has created a gift for you all which we will include with your pledges.

4. Competition update and prize preview time.

There is literally no excuse for you all not to enter our mega competition... no winging about not having models thank you! There is an entire category that relies on you all using your minds and google foo skills only (aka. no purchase necessary)!

With literally £100's of pounds of prizes to be won and a prize for every competitor... what are you waiting for?! 

For those of you wondering who/ what a Captain-General is/was; a Captain-General is one of the highest General Officer ranks in the military. The inspiration for this figure, a well-known sailor, Greek Prince, and British Royal was the Captain-General of the Royal Marines until his retirement from service in 2017 after holding the title for 64 years.

Whether you are looking to add another HVT or just immortalise a cool cat on your tabletop... this seasons must have figure is "The Captain-General"!

5. Shipping update.

Ship, ship, horray! ...See what we did there?

First of all, time for some somber music, flag drapped coffins and rifle fire. There have been two casualties of our Kickstarter campaign... Bank robber boss Steve and Guss the Ghillie clad sniper. Unfortunately, both were badly damaged in their transit from NZ, when ham-fisted brutes, opened, inspected and then badly repacked the green gold while it made its journey from NZ to rural Wiltshire.

However, shed not a tear for of the ashes arises a phenix.

1. Steve (the brutally maimed green and some of his mutilated spawn) have made the long commute back to the wilds of NZ. There a strange hermit called Anton, not only fasioned Steve new shoulders arms and a new gun; but he also created the afore mentioned Bert and Ernie to thank you all for you patience.

2. Guss the Ghillie clad sniper also suffered catastrophic barrel damage, but never fear, two new ghillie snipers are testing updated rifles as we speak, Barry and Todd are being forged and tested and the sturdiest of the two will replace Guss in your packages. P.s The difference will be the barrels and the base of the figure not the ghillie suit itself.

Finally for this section of the story... a large collection of reinforcements are currently somewhere over Asia on their way to the UK. When they arrive and are allowed out of customs they will head to the casters and approximately 2 weeks after they go to stare down the fiery inferno they will be back and ready to head to each of your gaming tables.

I can hear you all now clamouring for a specific date, but the answer is that the delivery date is currently down to two things:

1. The mail aircraft not being shot down over the Isle of Anthalonica.

2. The agents of the UK customs and Excise authority not holding the package prisoner for a long time (please remember that so far we have had parcels for the KS clear customs in 1 day and others be held for 14 weeks).

Anything Else

Well, funny you should ask. Below are some photos of the complete boards (minus the Zombies and civilians as the priority was to ship not photograph them just yet)... and a sneak peak of something exciting coming soon... can you tell what it is?

Last year some of you took part in our competition to win limited edition resin masters of our Police figures.

This year, we decided to try something more inclusive and wholesome. Presenting our competition to end all competitions. Four categories, with fun for everyone and a prize for everyone who enters!

This year our competition will run for 6 weeks from 00:01am Monday 1st November 2021 – 23:59 Sunday 12th December 2021.

To enter, email your submission and ensure you have liked and followed us on social media.

Please include your name, social media tag and the categories that you wish to enter. For scenarios please send files in either a word or pdf format.

We have four categories for people to enter this year:

1.       Best police /ultramodern paint job –Pro Category.
 

2.       Most unique police /ultra-modern paint job –Hobbyist Category.
 

3.       Most creative Anthalonica themed terrain.
 

4.       Best Royal Marines, Future Commando Force scenario.

In the words of Europe... we are approaching, "the final countdown..."; for those of you not already in our Discord (https://discord.gg/3ssFp4Th) where we post weekly, here are some of the bits and pieces that have been keeping Anton busy over the last month.

Here is a cheeky close-up of this weeks releases.

So what now?

Anton is now working on the last three unique sculpts (Dan Hunter, Sgt. Pun, and Chris Craighead)... then there are just the last few conversions and bits of kit to complete.

All of the goodies will be on the way to our casters in the next few weeks, but we are still at the mercy of UK customs clearance; the continued lockdown conditions in NZ are limiting Anton's ability to ship the greens to us, but happily, they are currently anticipated to ease at roughly the time the sculpting should be finished.

Competition time

Next week (31st October) we will be launching our mega competition... stay tuned for more details but there are categories that should let everyone, no matter your skill level take part and lots of exciting prizes. 

Finally... 

We should be getting back painted examples of our GIGN, SBS, VBSS Royal Marines, and police rifle team in the next few weeks, so lots of exciting pictures for everyone to enjoy. :)
